In Canada, your reputation is built on data you don't have yet.

Even with significant savings and a stable job, you are often required to pay high deposits for phones, face rejection for car leases, and pay "newcomer" interest rates. Settle's RAD reporting fills this gap by turning your reliable rent payments into visible proof of character.

Financial Ghost

Lenders see a 'thick file' built from verified rent and income stability.

Technical core

What is RAD Reporting?

RAD (Rent & Asset Data) is our proprietary way of bridging the gap between your real-world responsibility and the credit bureaus. We verify your rent and income stability through your secure bank link, providing the "depth of file" Canadian lenders require to say "Yes" to your first car, first credit card, and eventually your first home.

Bank-Grade Verification

We securely connect to your accounts to verify income and rent without manual paperwork.

Direct Bureau Integration

Your history is transmitted to Equifax Canada to build the official 'depth of file' lenders require.

The Invisible Made Visible

We turns your 'off-book' rent into a verified asset that the Canadian system finally recognizes.

What this opens up

Three doors that finally open.

A new standard of trust

Access the essentials.

Unlock phone plans without massive security deposits and set up utility connections on your own terms. Your payment history becomes your recommendation letter.

  • Waive security deposits

Secure phone plans and utility connections without the standard $500+ newcomer deposits.

  • The renter's portfolio

Present future landlords with a verified record of reliability beyond a basic credit check.

  • Build Local Reputation Over Time

Start building your financial reputation from your first payment.

Your first phone bill shouldn't cost you $500 upfront.
First winter readiness

Fair financing for what you need.

Don't let a 'thin file' dictate the interest you pay for a reliable vehicle. Secure competitive rates for the car you need for the Canadian commute.

  • Fair auto financing

Qualify for leases and loans at prime rates instead of being penalized by 'no-history' markups.

  • Lower insurance premiums

Many Canadian insurers use credit to determine rates, yours should reflect your actual responsibility.

The commute shouldn't punish you for being new.
The homeownership blueprint

Underwriting depth for your first mortgage.

Establish the 12–24 month evidence history required for a prime Canadian mortgage. We turn your rent into the downpayment of your financial character.

  • Mortgage underwriting depth

Build the 12–24 month historical depth that helps mortgage underwriters say 'Yes' faster.

  • Work toward prime rates

Improving your credit scores may help you access better rates over time.

The Settle philosophy

We don't believe in the old rules.

The Canadian financial system was built on a simple, outdated assumption: that your credit scores tell the full story of who you are. For renters, they don't. Credit scores cannot measure your character, your community, your work ethic, or the sacrifices you made to arrive here. That is why we built the Settle Rent Guarantee, to give landlords a better, more human way to assess the tenant in front of them.

But the lending market plays by different rules.

When a bank reviews your mortgage application, they are not asking whether you are a good person. They are asking a specific, narrow question: can you service a large, recurring debt over 25 years? For that question, and only that question, your credit report is a legitimate tool.

"Landlords should never judge a tenant by their score. But a bank can absolutely judge a borrower by theirs. These are not the same question, and we refuse to pretend they are."
. The Settle Team

RAD Reporting is not a compromise. It is a strategy.

By reporting your rent to the credit bureaus, we are not endorsing the old system, we are arming you to navigate it. Every on-time rent payment is now evidence that you can manage a major housing expense with complete reliability. That is the argument we make to the bank on your behalf.

Common questions.

Arriving in a new country is complex. We aim to make your financial reputation the simplest part of the journey.

I'm a newcomer with no Canadian history. How fast will this work?

RAD reporting is designed exactly for you. By reporting your largest recurring payment (rent) along with your verified income stability, we help you build a 'thick file' faster than traditional credit cards alone.

Does my landlord need to be involved?

No. We verify rent via your secure bank link. Your landlord doesn't need to enroll or change how they receive payments.

Which credit bureaus do you report to?

Equifax Canada at launch, with additional bureau partners on our roadmap.

Will this actually help me get a mortgage?

RAD reporting builds the 12–24 month rent and income history mortgage underwriters look for. It is not a guarantee of approval, but it directly addresses the 'thin file' barrier most newcomers face.

Why doesn't rent automatically count?

The Canadian credit system was built around revolving debt, not housing payments. Rent is 'off-book' by default. RAD bridges that gap by verifying and reporting it.

What happens if I move?

Your Settle profile and credit history follow you. We re-verify the new lease via bank link and continue reporting without interruption.
